So I have been working on some super cute wreaths for Valentine’s Day. I just so happen to love Valentine’s Day. The Husband and I were engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2002. Of course I love Valentine candy as well. I have already eaten two whole bags of Brach’s conversation hearts.
So making these fabric scrap wreaths is very easy. All you need is a wire hanger, fabric, peeking shears and duct tape.
First, you need to unbend your wire hanger. Then form it into a heart. You can twist the wires together, and then wrap a piece of duct tape around it.
Next, you need to cut your fabric. I try to do the strips 5 inches long by 1 inch wide, but I do not use a measuring tape. I just eye ball it. The peeking shears will keep the fabric from fraying. This is a great project for any random fabric you have around the house. I think that a heart shaped wreath takes about a 3/4 yard of fabric. I like to use different patterns that are similar in color. I do not like “matchy match”.
After you get your strips cut out, then you just start tying them on the wire. For some strange reason, I find this task very relaxing. I like to have my hands busy while I watch my TV programs. The only down side of this project is that it makes a mess. I have fabric scrap remnants all over my house. I have a sheet on the floor under my chair that I sit in and make the wreaths. When I am finished, I just shake out the sheet.
I like for the wreaths to be really full so I shake them to fluff them up. Hattie loves this game because it looks like it’s snowing. The Husband rolls his eyes because of the mess it makes. Ya can’t please everyone! I hang up the heart wreath with a Command Hook. I love those things! They are at the top of my list right beneath Velcro!

What a fun project. Thanks for sharing the idea of re-shaping a coat hanger into the wreath shape of choice…this is great to remind us to use what we have…we don't always have to run to the craft store for every item! I'm so glad you shared this at Loving Valentines Day!
